This chapter kept my interest a little better than Chapter 1 though the author was still forced into "overthinking". He wouldn't have much of a book without it.
The thing that has stuck with me since I read it was "vulcanization" of students. I thought that was priceless, and it describes something I've been fighting since I became a teacher (17th year). However, just because I've been fighting it doesn't mean I've been successful or always had the tools to fight it. Again, the piles of analysis concerning critical thinking skills is something any teacher should already understand, (though maybe not to that depth) and my Psych Teacher side did enjoy the review. But since we don't get quizzes, I won't memorize all the minutiae. I have seen students who fit the "Vulcan" mold though and they would have benefited from some "critical thinking skills enhancement" - which I imagine involves the odd computer here and there (or they can just join my debate team).
To me this chapter is further foundation building (as stated earlier in the book), so, good, I get it. Bloom would be proud. I'm ready to go on.
Not as cynical as I sound...
